FORUM ON TEACHING

Informal articles on teaching strategies, curriculum reform, training issues, etc., along with responses to these entries, will be posted here. Initially, "Forum" will function more like a bulletin board than a formal journal. If there is sufficient interest, "Forum" may progress to a peer-reviewed digital journal.

Possible topics for discussion:

Effective teaching strategies for undergraduates of diverse backgrounds, for example

"Classroom debates as interdisciplinary teaching tools" by S. Wisseman, University of Illinois

Curriculum reform: how to achieve cross-disciplinary training in archaeology and the appropriate sciences

"A Partnership" by George (Rip) Rapp, Archaeometry Laboratory, University of Minnesota
The above entry is a reprint of a 1989 AIA Plenary address, reprinted in the SAS Bulletin 15(4) 1992 issue. An update to this article will appear in a future issue of "Forum."

Differences between European and American training programs, and how to redesign archaeology and anthropology degree programs to include more science
